The cement tile workshop Cimenterie de la Tour

Cimenterie de la Tour has a manufacturing plant which has been located in the region of Rabat, in Morocco, since 1932.

Today, cement tiles are still handcrafted. No machine has replaced skill and manual labor.

Whether patterned or plain, our cement tiles are always made upside down. They are in fact made up of two thicknesses one on top of the other when we observe a cement tile in view of cutting. Therefore, the manufacture of the tile begins with the colored, plain or patterned, to finish with what is called the sole of the tile, its base.

First of all, the first phase consists in spreading the layer of color at the bottom of the mold. The colored paste is then spread out at the bottom of this mold. This step concerns plain tiles. For patterned tiles, the use of what is called a divider is necessary. The divider is a metal part formed by the different compartments separating the colors.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container La Cimenterie de la Tour, manufacturer and seller throughout France

Showrooms

Thanks to its know-how as well as to its qualitative vision of the product, the Cimenterie de la Tour has diversified and now offers two tiling distributor showrooms. Cement tiles are also present. Located on the outskirts of Montpellier, in Lavérune and Saint-Aunès, the two showrooms called Carrelage de la Tour offer a wide range of high-end and quality products over more than 250m2. Tiles, mosaics, earthenware, or even natural stones, all the finishes and formats available on the market are present for both indoor and outdoor tiles.

Distance selling

Thanks to our website, we have set up online requests for quotes as well as a sample sending system which allows future customers to be able to view remotely the colors or patterns they have chosen. This method therefore allows us to be able to respond to all our customers, regardless of their location. They can therefore see and touch matter and color. Our deliveries are made with an independent transport agency which arranges appointments according to customer availability.

From the design of cement tiles to production

We have a design studio called “Studio 3.0” which scrutinizes fashion as much on textiles, tapestries, cushions … to find inspiration for the future cement tile pattern. However, the old models are also used a lot, we make them some small retouching which allows them to be personalized with more contemporary colors.

It may happen that some customers want their own model with their own design. With a minimum surface of 20 m², we are able to manufacture their own divider, which will allow them to have their own cement tiles.

It also happens, on many renovations, that customers wish to keep the existing patterns specific to their home. We can also remake an identical pattern using the colors available on our color chart. It should be noted that it is however impossible to reproduce colors identical to old tiles because they have over the years become weathered.

Finally, for several years we have been collaborating with designers, they send us their models so that we can launch their own range of cement tiles.
