Some shades never need justifying, and yellow and beige are among them. They are the colours of sun-warmed earth, of the sand of Mediterranean coves, of fresh butter and of the ochre façades of village houses. Choosing a plain yellow or beige cement tile brings this natural light indoors, even in the least sunny rooms. It is a colour that does not seek to dominate but instantly creates a feeling of warmth and well-being, that of a home lived in for a long time, where you feel at ease.

At Cimenterie de la Tour, every plain yellow or beige cement tile is handmade using a centuries-old cold-pressing process that gives the material depth of colour and a slight variation in shade from one tile to the next, like a living material rather than a calibrated product. This quality allows these sunny shades to fit into a contemporary Mediterranean interior as well as a Provençal farmhouse renovation or a bohemian townhouse.

Our yellow range opens with very soft, almost cream shades, ideal for dressing a kitchen bathed in natural light without ever looking garish. A light yellow, laid as 20x20 squares, visually enlarges the space while keeping a perceptible warmth even on grey days, a valuable asset in north-facing rooms. Combined with light wood kitchen fronts or a zellige splashback, it creates a sunny, serene atmosphere, close to the spirit of a revisited country kitchen.

Mustard yellow, bolder, is a colour with character. Laid across a utility room or small shower room, it creates an unexpected cocooning effect; used as a frieze or border around more neutral tiles, it punctuates the space with a graphic touch without upsetting its balance. It is a shade particularly appreciated by interior designers who want to introduce colour without sacrificing the overall restraint of a project.

Beige, in our collection of plain beige cement tiles, comes in several shades: light sand, pastel ochre, soft linen. These shades have the rare quality of matching absolutely every interior style, from the most minimalist to the most rustic. A sand beige on the floor of an entrance or hallway creates a soft, bright transition between rooms, while a pastel ochre in a bathroom immediately evokes the soothing atmosphere of a hammam or Mediterranean spa.

These beige shades also work remarkably well tone on tone: pairing a light sand plain tile with a deeper ochre in the same space creates subtle visual depth without ever breaking the overall harmony. This approach is particularly sought-after for large floor areas, where a single shade might eventually look monotonous.

The richness of our yellow and beige range is not limited to colour: it also comes through five shapes available for every shade. The square, the historic cement tile format, is perfect for a continuous layout that lets colour fully occupy the space. The hexagon, with its organic outline, softens the lines of a room and is particularly suited to kitchens and bathrooms with rounded volumes.

The octagon, often combined with a small contrasting tile at its intersection, evokes the charm of old floors while blending naturally into a contemporary renovation, in light yellow as well as sand beige. The rectangle plays on the perspective of a hallway or entrance by accentuating its length, while the more graphic diamond lends itself beautifully to chevron compositions or decorative borders highlighting a doorway or the edge of a room.

This variety of shapes lets you design fully bespoke floors: a sand beige square background punctuated by a mustard yellow diamond border, or a combination of light yellow and pastel ochre hexagons for a stunning gradient effect, like a sunset captured in the material.

Working with plain yellow and beige cement tiles means choosing a resolutely warm, almost tactile atmosphere. In a kitchen, these shades naturally accompany raw wood, rattan and natural materials, for an atmosphere reminiscent of Mediterranean interiors or holiday homes. In an entrance, a sand beige instantly creates a sense of welcome and softness from the very first step. In a bathroom, pastel ochre or light yellow recreate the cosy atmosphere of a wellness space, far from the coldness sometimes associated with contemporary bathrooms.

These sunny colours also age well: unlike trendier shades, soft yellow and beige move through fashions without ever looking dated, making them a sound choice for a lasting project.

Designing a floor in plain yellow and beige cement tiles requires a careful eye for shades and how they interact with the natural light in your room. Our team supports you at every stage: advice on combining shades and shapes, physical samples so you can judge the material in real conditions, and technical recommendations on the right installation for your project. Our showroom in Lavérune also lets you discover our projects in situ and talk directly with our advisers.

Whether you are considering an entirely yellow floor, a tone-on-tone beige or a composition mixing several shapes, our range of plain yellow and beige cement tiles gives you the raw material for a warm, bright and lasting interior.
